IBON seeks to promote an understanding of socioeconomics that serves the interests and aspirations of the Filipino people. We study the most urgent social, economic and political issues confronting Philippine society and the world.
HIYAW or 'shout out' is a voice of the militant and progressive Filipinos and sharply articulates cries, statements and calls of their mass organizations, formations, groups and communities which are bound by a common love for the motherland, specifically the struggle to achieve genuine freedom, democracy, justice, progress and lasting peace in the Philippines.
We observe this year the 100th anniversary of the 1986 Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonization, and the 26th anniversary of the First Quarter Storm of 1970. The two are interrelated, and are historic events to the Filipino people since both had to do – and still have to do – with our people’s continuing struggle for national independence and democracy.
